Refreshments Needed

We need women to bring desserts to the upcoming Tools of the Carpenter Fireside on Sunday at 6pm.  We are hoping to stick to cookies or other desserts that wouldn't require utensils.  If you are able to help, please contact a member of the Relief Society Presidency.  Thank you!

Announcements

This week:

  • This week's Book of Mormon reading assignment is Mosiah 3-7.

  • Sunday's Relief Society lesson will be Chapter 17, "Sealing Power and Temple Blessings" from the Joseph Fielding Smith manual.

  • Saturday, September 27: General Women's Broadcast and potluck dinner at the stake center.  Dinner at 5pm and broadcast at 6pm.  Ladies ages 8 and up are invited to attend.

  • This Sunday (September 28) will be Fast Sunday, since the first Sunday in October will be General Conference.

  • Sunday, September 28 @ 6pm: "Tools of the Carpenter" fireside at our ward building, combined with the 4th Ward.  There will be Primary activities for children so all adults can attend.  (Note the time on this was incorrect in last week's email. The fireside will be at 6pm, not 7pm.)

Coming Up:
  • Our Gospel Doctrine Sunday School has been split into two smaller classes.  One class will be taught by Mike Orullian and Libby Cain and the other class will be taught by Mitch Hall and Cami Evans on alternating weeks.  So after Relief Society on Sundays, please remember to go to one of the rooms in the southeast corner of the building or you will inadvertently attend youth Sunday School who will now meet in the RS room during the second hour of church.

  • General Conference will be October 4 & 5.  Tickets to attend sessions at the Conference Center are available through the ward mission leader. They are reserved first for less active members, recent converts, or investigators, so take your neighbors!
  • This year's stake Day of Jubilee for attending the temple together has been set for Wednesday, December 3.  More details will be coming.

Announcements

This week:

  • Remember, there will be no regular church meetings this Sunday, September 21!
  • Instead, please attend one of the dedicatory sessions of the Ogden Utah Temple that will be broadcast to our stake center on September 21 at 10am, 1pm, and 4pm.  Take your recommend and a white handkerchief.
  • This week's Book of Mormon reading assignment is Jarom 1 through Mosiah 2.
  • At the end of Aimee Seal's Relief Society lesson on Sunday, she gave us each a challenge.  If you have children, write them each a letter letting them know what you love about them and bear your testimony.  If you don't have children, write to your parents.  If you don't have children or living parents, think of a family and do service for them this week.
  • President Suhaka gave a talk in Sacrament Meeting urging everyone to look at your temple recommend and not only make sure it is current but to make sure you are using it regularly to attend the temple.  He challenged us to attend the temple at least once a month and to specifically find a time to go this week.
